My Raw Food Experience

When I started to learn about raw food I wondered how people keep eating always only raw food. Especially in Winter it is really hard not to eat hot, steaming soups, drink a great bowl of hot chocolate or have a nice dish of pasta with a tomato sauce – hot! I can’t really do it because I am a typical female having always cold hands and feet.

But anyway I was curious if really the variety of those foods are so great like they always write everywhere. So I had a look if there is any restaurant offering this kind of diet. And of course there is no one in Northern Germany. But…. one tiny family hotel near to Lübeck. So I called asking if there is a possibility to come and eat there only. It was and always welcomed. Just had to tell the evening before how many people we are.

I asked a friend of mine who is changing her diet lately and she immediately said yes. So one evening – a very rainy one – we drove through the dark night on the highway and through small villages and finally arriving on a kind of farm.

One light, silence everywhere… we entered. “Hello?” Some voices in the back of the entrance hall. I opened the door and entered in a room full of light. One table, 8 persons sitting and chatting. We were late, just 15 minutes, I knew.

A big hello to everyone, “Please, take a seat and eat.” Not even 5 minutes later we were eating all kinds of salads and cold sauces. No bread. Water and two kinds of tea to drink. Slowly we started to talk with each other when the landlady arrived, taking a seat near to me. We had a nice evening, talking and listening. The landlady talked about her illness many years ago like burn-out, depression, overweight (now perfectly in form), problems with sugar and blood pressure. All gone with this diet of raw food. She seemed very fit for her age and full of enthusiasm. She closed the little hotel for two month in the Winter.

My impression about the raw food? Well, very tasty, a really huge variety and all but boring. But… still cold. And for me not the only way to eat healthy.
