As I was at the Abbey of Neuberg a. d. Mürz I had the opportunity to visit as well a great glass manufacturer. It is located right in the abbey area and just at the side.
So after a walk through the abbey yard I turned the corner and had first a beautiful view on a special house just opposite of the river.
The house is a former wellness and recreation hotel and built in the Friedensreich Hundertwasser style. It had a legal dispute just because it is very similar but not original.
It looks great anyway. Today it is again part of the abbey and used as tavern like it was originally.
But there was something else in my view: glass bells hanging in a tree. Beautiful, shiny, colorful… real masterpieces.
The glass manufacturer has a great name: Kaiserhof Glasmanufaktur. Very imperial. And honestly the glass could be for emperors.
Just entering we could stay and observe how the glass would be worked. Warm place as there is an open fire, some benches to sit. The gaffer was working on a sculpture as far we could see. Glowing hot the glass was modeled into forms in matching colors. Very informing!
We went around in the show-rooms. Vases, bowls, sculptures for inside and outside, lamps, jewelry and much more. All in bright colors, shiny and a real joy to look at. I was very impressed and nearly bought some champagne flutes.
By the way: glass is as old as 4.000 years and still fascinating people. Have you ever seen ancient glass works in the museums? They were owned only by the richest and oftentimes worked magnificent.
