Sleeping in Idyllwild

The last weeks, months, have been crazy and insanely busy. So when the last weekend of April arrived I was so excited to go away for a couple of days. Together with friends we had booked into an airb&b in Idyllwild.

Idyllwild is a small mountain village in the San Jacinto Mountain Range east to Los Angeles in California. It’s about 3 hours driving from San Diego where we started our trip.

We arrived in the evening, just in time to attend a little concert by our air b&b hosts. They had a performance of their really amazing music in a bar/restaurant of Idyllwild.

Later that evening we made our way to our home for the next two days: the Jameson Lodge. It’s in the town, immersed in a huge environment of trees. As it was already past midnight, we only had a look in the house which seemed to me endless. On two floors there was an enormous kitchen, an entrance hall, a dream-all-my-life living room, two bedrooms, one en suite, another bedroom in the lower floor and some more rooms in an upper floor. The most impressive in this really super spacious house are the roof-windows (skylights). They give light during the day and in the night you can watch the stars while easily sitting on the coach.

We had a wonderful sleep during the night, with really no noises, complete silence – so relaxing when you live in a noisy city. The day after I got up at my usual time around 7 am and walked barefoot outside in the huge garden. A lot of trees, a wonderful tea-house, birds and nothing else. Peace. I was sitting outside more than two hours in the morning sun, without doing anything, which nearly never happens to me. OK, I was reading a book and playing a little with my camera.

We had a great breakfast later, a good hike and in the evening some restaurant-hopping for dinner. Later we had a fire in the open-fireplace, playing cards and chatting until midnight. So very much relaxing.

On Sunday we left in the late morning to have a walk on the super tiny farmers’ market before leaving the little mountain paradise.

Thanks to our wonderful musician hosts Clare and Lawrence! They have a cozy house that makes any guest feel like… home.
