I love handcrafts. I am so interested in people who have a great idea and do beautiful things out of apparently nothing. And I love the country-style living. And of course all of the great colors, textures, the old-look of furniture and that stuff. So it was normal that one of the first shops I looked around when I came to Ireland was such one. A friend of mine directed me to Kells where is an old country house shop with exactly this kind of living-style.
When I came the first time I had to look around to find it because it’s a little bit outside of the town-center of Kells. But I followed the signs indicating the country house shop. A pair of peacocks came to say hello when I arrived and slowly gone away when I approached them. The house has a U-form and that is the shop too. On two stores they show a lot of beautiful ideas, art and life-style. Tea-pots, carpets, furniture of all kind, nice jewelry, funny ideas for x-mas and a lot more. It took me around two hours to see all.
Of course, I came a few more times and one of these I came with a friend who knows very well the owner-ladies. And they invited us for tea and scones. I enjoyed it to sit near to the open fire as it was winter and very cold outside. A rocky chair with a nice soft pillow, a hot tea and some tasty scones. Is there anything else to wish?
Just the other day I stumbled upon a recipe with just those nutty scones I had there. I am sure they were baked with wheat flour than but I had the recipe with nut meal and that is exactly what I eat. I wanted to try them out!
