Bling Bling – Silver and Style Icons

I love fashion since I was a child and sew my own creations at ten years. Watching the catwalk and creating by my own some of those ideas was part of me all my life. Style icons like Jackie Onassis or Audrey Hepburn were my favorites. Carolina Herrera, Chanel or Dolce e Gabbana .. they all make me dream. So when I had the chance to see an exhibition of style icons of the last century in County Wicklow I was enthusiastic.

The exhibition is in Newbridge at a fabric for silver cutlery. I am not particularly interested in cutlery honestly but I was surprised what else I found there.

A sunny day, a huge crowd of people going south and taking the same exit as we do. Instead of trying to find the place we should have just followed all those cars. But anyway we arrived in the end, just perfect in time for lunch.

After trying at least 10 minutes to find a parking place (incredible how many people go sometimes to the same place at the same time!) we finally could go for lunch in the Newbridge Silver Cutlery. And even here it was not easy to find a place to sit but of course like everywhere in Ireland we found something gluten- and dairy-free to eat.

After lunch we started to see around on the ground floor all those magnificent cutlery ideas. Silver shining everywhere, something golden as well, a whole lot of gadgets, jewelleries and everything one could imagine for a wedding.

We asked for the exhibition and finally got on the first floor to see the famous stylish women of last century.

Actresses, princess’, first ladies and public VIPs and their fashion. Beautiful gowns of famous movies like Casablanca or Sabrina, the wedding dress of Lady Di, Marilyn Monroe, tailored suits for First Ladies and always a bit of story behind those dresses.

The exhibition of style icons is educational, interesting and let the visitor dream. Dream of wearing only once such a beautiful dress, to know these amazing women, to act in a movie.

The exhibition is free but be sure you will buy something from the cutlery choices. I took a very stylish scarf and a funny ‘bling-bling’ bijoux ring. My friend took something for another friend but was tempted to buy half the really huge shop.

If you have the possibility to go to Newbridge on the way maybe to the Wicklow mountains, stop by and have a look. You will not regret it!
