Driving In Italy – Veneto And Emilia-Romagna

I started my tour through the Northern part of Italy north to Venice. I knew already Bibbione and Jesolo but I thought Sabbiadoro which means golden sands sounds so nice. I wanted to see these golden beaches.

It was easy to find as I came down from Graz in Austria after a short visit at my friend’s Travelwriticus new home.

But I never saw golden beaches. Instead it is a place like the others, built for mass tourism coming in the summer months invading shores and sea. I thought it awful and definitely a place I will not come back. The little lighthouse was nice.. but that’s not enough. I highlight were the meadows full of daisies…

I took the road to the South of Venice and more inside to the region of Emilia Romagna. There I came across a small town called Olmo with an impressive church I could see already from far away. I saw many little towns like Olmo and they give in the sun a nice holiday feeling. But no place I would like to stop for a while.

Already further into the region of Emilia Romagna and near to the middle age town Este I saw this hedge of Wisteria. I think it’s one of the most beautiful flowers in spring. I know them from the island Capri where monks produce a perfume out of these flowers.

When I drove more into the mountains and west to Bologna I passed a lot of small mountain villages. One after the other – at least they looked to me all the same. And reminded me about South Tyrol. Even the people looked like mountain people. Don’t ask me how do mountain people look – come and see. The darker skin, the way they move, the way they look strangers – curious and the same suspicious.

This amazing tower I saw in a place called Valle San Giorgio (Saint George valley). It’s a bell tower near to a church, but incredibly high and well worked. Unfortunately I didn’t find a sign to tell me more about it. Church closed of course.

Well I am still on the road and have many days left. Stay tuned to read more about my trip in Italy…
