Another day another smoothie. This morning I had a light crisis as I couldn’t find any herbs or ‘weeds’ in the garden to use for this smoothie today. But finally I found some new growing nettles. Finding wild herbs or so said ‘weeds’ (which doesn’t exist as they are often edible and sometimes really beautiful and healthy for the garden) at this time is challenging as after a very dry and hot summer all has gone now. Still there is no rain, September half gone.
So today I mix ‘burning’ nettles with sweet almond cream. What a combination. Together with an apple and a banana I think it will be super delicious. The handful nettles will just ‘disappear in so much fruity-nutty sweetness but the same there will be the benefits of nettles.
Nettles are:
preventing kidney stones
a natural pain killer
curing skin disease
tonic for women
great for digestion
…
And many other benefits. So don’t hesitate and worry: they will not ‘burn’ at all and are super safe. Did you ever try nettle soup? You should… need to put a recipe on here.
Happy Thursday Smoothie!
- 1 apple
- 1 banana
- 1 handful wild herbs (nettle, starweed, goatweed...)
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 squeeze lemon juice
- 1 cup fresh water
- Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend until completely smooth and creamy.
If you don't want it so creamy but more drinkable add another cup of water.
The color of the smoothie may change with the wild herbs. I used nettles so the light greenish color came out.
Decorate with some chopped nuts, almond meal or mint leaves.
