Today it’s just half the time of my smoothie challenge. And time to say something about smoothies.
Smoothies became very popular in the last years. As healthy and very delicious drink. It is often substituting lunch or dinner.
They are made of fruit with or without vegetables and often added by water, ice-cubes, dairy or non-dairy milk. Sweeteners are very optional and I think not needed at all.
Green smoothies have two third of fruit and one third of vegetables. Usually leafy veggies like kale, spinach, salad, collard greens and others. These are healthier than only made of fruit and water as they are normally more balanced.
The most famous smoothie maker is the Vitamix, I don’t have any but mine is great as well.
If you buy a smoothie I recommend to read the label before as there are often a lot of additives you don’t want in a healthy drink.
Smoothies with sugar or alcohol in are no smoothies for me (sorry).
My smoothie today is a homemade one – like all the others you can find on my blog. Mine is one of the healthier ones with peaches, kiwi, spinach and basil. Try it!
- 15 gr basil
- 100 gr spinach
- 4 fresh, ripe peaches
- 1/2 fresh lemon juice
- some fresh water
- Put all the ingredients into the blender and mix until completely smooth.
Add water to justify the density. Some like it more dense and some want to have a light drink.
